Knowledge. Opportunity. Creativity. Our Jewish past; our Jewish future. Since 1979, the Downtown Jewish Community School has been opening doors for our children. To keep encouraging them to explore their fullest potential, we need your help. Which is why we’ve launched our Annual Campaign.

The Downtown Jewish Community School is independent of the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre. We’re affiliated with the UJA Federation’s Centre for Jewish Education, but we do not receive funding from any religious organization or synagogue. The federal and Ontario governments provided limited funding at one time, but those Heritage language grants no longer exist.

We’re committed to opening new doors for our students each day. But we need your commitment too. A gift from each of us, a gift for each of us.

“Knowledge Gained. Heritage Preserved.”

DJCS students, parents and teachers work together to honour our motto every day. You can also help preserve the heritage of the DJCS and ensure that our students continue to gain the knowledge they need today to become the strong voice of Jewish tomorrow. Your support of our Annual Campaign will enable DJCS to successfully:

  • Provide financial assistance to students in need
  • Recruit and train the highest caliber teachers and ensure their continuing professional development
  • Offer creative enrichment opportunities to our students
  • Minimize tuition increases

Your gift means a lot to our students

$10,000 can provide a Scholarship Fund in your name or honour the memory of a worthy individual. Your scholarship gift will allow two needy children to benefit from five years of Jewish education;

$5,000 can provide 40 students with a 10 week enrichment program in music, dance, art or drama;

$1,000 can provide a one year tuition scholarship for a needy Jewish family;

$500 can purchase needed new AV equipment, such as a digital camera or a TV/VCR for the benefit of all of our students;

$100 can provide supplies for 20 Grade 1 children to make a special Shabbat craft;

“I can say with certainty that, had it not been for the years at the DJCS, our children would not “feel” Jewish and, in fact, would have been lost to the Jewish community, assimilated like so many other non-affiliated Jews.“

Ted Winick, DJCS Parent

We hear a lot about Jewish continuity.  We all know that a solid education and a strong community are vital to sustaining a vibrant future generation of Jews. But the Downtown Jewish Community School needs more from you than talk about it; we need your active support.  And we need it today.

We need your support of our first Annual Campaign. Each door leads to new possibilities for our students.

Please make your gift today.
